Sunday Potpourri No. 7

Today's post comes with the Standard Sunday Disclaimer: "The post title is using the term 'potpourri' in the second of the two senses listed here. The post may also be rather short, although not necessarily so."

I Pity the Fool...

...who bought an iPhone 6 instead of a beautiful Motorola Moto X like mine...
"Just let it go, Shu. What's done is done."
I have no idea what you're talking about...

Shark Week: Insanity Shark

[Note: The image macro meme this is spoofing can be viewed here. And if you don't get the movie reference either, look here.]

Another year, another Shark Week gone by. Where does the time go?

Wild Kingdom Bed & Breakfast Update

Although there is always plenty of room for the guests who prefer to feed on the patio itself, or on the grass just beyond, a few of my avian friends show a marked preference for the feeder. And when more than two or three of them at a time try to use it, the results can be mildly amusing...

"Have you given any thought to expanding your operation?"
I have my hands full managing the B&B as it is, thanks...

Blogito Ergo Sum

"I don't get it..."
That's because you've never read any Descartes...and thanks again to the late, great Johnny Hart, who loved wordplay as much as I do...

Until Next Time...

One of the most familiar legends in American blues music is story of Robert Johnson, who allegedly met the Devil at a crossroads and sold his soul in exchange for fame and fortune. That story, of course, is just a re-telling of the Faust legend, but it has still inspired a number of songs and stories centering around Johnson and his music. One of my favorites in this genre is a humble little film released in 1986 called Crossroads. The movie was well-reviewed, but didn't do anything at the box office and is now mostly forgotten. If you can find it, though, it is definitely a charming tale. And the best part is the soundtrack by the fantastic Ry Cooder.

Have I mentioned that my blues-rock hero Joe Bonamassa was born on Robert Johnson's birthday?

Anyway, today's send-off is my favorite track from the film. Some days, the blues just feels right, you know?
